Maybe it's because you have to build these things fairly robustly anyway, shaker or not. Players are going to be manually knocking the table around a lot, plus there's the subwoofer and other mechanicals besides the shaker. I don't think a shaker motor is uniquely or disproportionately stressful on anything.
